The 1975 - I Couldn't Be More In Love

At the best of times I'm lonely in my mind
But I can find something to show you
If you have got the time
Why would I rely on the things that I did right?
She said, "I gave you four years of my life"

So what about these feelings I've got?
We got it wrong and you said you'd had enough
What about these feelings I've got?
I couldn't be more in love

I could've been a great line, I could've been a sign
Or overstay my time, say what's on your mind
Maybe I'll rely on all the things that made it right
Because I'd give you all the years of my life

So, what about these feelings I've got?
We got it wrong and you said you'd had enough
But what about these feelings I've got?
I couldn't be more in love

What about these feelings I've got?
We got it wrong and you said you'd had enough
But what about these feelings I've got
I couldn't be more in love.

The vocals on this track had been recorded by Matt Healy the day before he went to rehab. He explained, "To be fair, I sang it better when I got out, but there was just something in those vocals. It was kind of guttural. I was really upset and scared. I feel like there's a hopelessness in the vocal performance."
According to Jamie O'Borne, band's manager, this song was written by Matty Healy about The 1975's fans. O'Borne posted a message on Twitter, "It's about Mattys love of our amazing community and his fear that he will lose you. It's a beautiful song. One of the best actually."
Matt Healy told Pitchfork about the guitar work on the song, "That's my solo, as well. Again, I don't want to celebrate the part when I was using, but there were some moments we captured where I was on the brink, and there's a real intensity to it. That was one take."
